Short version: no accounts, no tracking cookies, and nothing sold or shared for advertising. The detail follows.

What is collected

Anonymous usage statistics

Vercel Web Analytics records which pages are opened and how quickly they load. It is cookieless and aggregated — it does not build a profile of you and cannot follow you to other sites.

Server logs

As with any website, your request reaches a server that sees your IP address as a necessary part of delivering the page. These are handled by Vercel, the hosting provider, and are not used to identify you.

Your location

On the globe, "Find my location" asks your browser for permission first. The coordinates are used in your browser only — to point the globe and work out which city's news to show. They are never sent to our servers and never stored. Declining costs you nothing but that one feature.

What is stored on your device

One item, in local storage: whether you prefer °C or °F. No cookies are set for tracking or advertising. Clearing site data removes it.

Who else your browser talks to

• Open-Meteo — to show current conditions, your browser requests weather for the city you selected. That request carries the selected city's coordinates, not yours.
• Vercel — hosting, content delivery, and the analytics described above.

News feeds are fetched by our server rather than your browser, so publishers do not see your IP address when a headline list loads. Once you click a headline you are on their site, under their privacy policy.

What is not done

• No accounts, sign-ups or newsletters
• No advertising cookies or third-party trackers
• No selling, renting or sharing of data
• No profiling and no cross-site tracking

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Since there are no accounts and no personal data is stored, there is normally nothing held about you. If you believe otherwise, write to hello@worldnews.garden and it will be looked into.

If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
